There are a variety of sounds that birds make. Owls hoot, chickens cluck, ducks quack, and eagles shriek. Some birds tweet. When a small bird sings, it chirps.

  • There are some birds chirping outside the window.
  • Do you hear the chirping?
  • I love to hear the sound of crickets chirping on summer evenings. (This word is also used to describe the sound that some insects make.)
  • My daughter can chirp like a bird.
