When water or any other liquid moves slowly from one area to another, use the word "seep" to talk about the situation.

  • Water is seeping through a crack in the wall.
  • Water may seep into a tent overnight, depending on the weather conditions.
  • There's a little bit of seepage of oil coming from the engine.
  • The engine is seeping oil.
  • This wet area shows that something is seeping through the cap.
  • Some sort of liquid seeped out of a bag and onto the floor.
  • Water seeping from a pipe indicates there is a leak.
  • Blood slowly seeped into the cloth bandage area of the band aid which helped stop the bleeding.
